    Hi all

Sorry if this has already been covered.

I am having lots of trouble changing and AVI audio from AC3 to MP3 but leaving the video completely intact.

I have downloaded Virtualdub. Install an AC3 Decompresser and the LAMEMp3 VirtualDubMod.

When I click on the Audio menu the compression option is grayed out.

I have never used VirtualDub before so beginner steps would be excellent (or even links to correct versions of all software/codecs needed).

I can't even work out what to do once the correct settings have been selected.

Really hope someone out there can help.

    Thanks

    Bud Vegas

Ok but then what do I select under the lame options? It seems to be blank.

Also when I have got past this how do I apply the changes without the AVI file size huge in size.

Sorry If I am being simple. I have never used VDub and can't quite grasp the concept.

    Many Thanks

The reason the files are "huge" is b/c you need to set a compression in Video options use Xvid MPEG4...And for audio you did install the Lame mp3 ACM codec right?

    Edit to add link:

You need to install the Xvid codec..

You can also try avidemux, keep the video on copy, change the audio to mp3. See if that works better for you.

    Much better...

    @Budvegas
"Converting from AC3 to MP3 without touching Video"- the method described with VDub does not do that. The video should be copied, like jon suggested, not re-compressed.
