I looked at all the posts and guids to know how to convert an Xvid avi to be burned to a DVD. I have a few episodes from my favourite Star Trek and I want to copy it to DVD. I want to add about 3 episodes to the DVD which i believe is possible without loosing too much quality. Now i know the process to work with one avi file, but how do i handle 3 avi's (episodes)? Should I concatenate all the AVI's together in one AVI? Then how do i tell the DVD which episode is which episode?

Thanks... it helpped me a lot. I do however have problems with the menu's of TMPGenc DVD Author tool. What if I only want to show the Main menu and no submenu (meaning I dont want any chapters to be show). I am making my selection on the main menu and then the DVD goes to that selection and i have to select play. Can I only choose one of their pre-defined menu's or no menu?
I've never tried jim_dandy's way and I'm sure he's offering good advice. If you want another method, here's how I do it. (A little more work involved though.) If the files are VCD/SVCD to begin with... 1) Demux the files. Re-sample the audio to 48KHz (DVD standard). Do not remux. 2) Load them into DVD-Lab (authoring proggy). You have excellent fine-control of everything in this proggy. It'll complain the video files aren't DVD compliant but ignore that. 3) Burn away. Caveat: One problem about using VCD/SVCD avi's (regardless of authoring program used) is that not all stand-alones will play them correctly. If you want maximum compatibility, encode the entire file to DVD standard first. (Which is probably what you'll do since you're starting with avi's.) You'll get much better results that way.
I dont know about your authoring program but with TMPGEnc dvd author the files are compliant after its done.They dont come out vcd/svcd files they come out vob files ready to burn.
