I recently purchased a 6 Gig iriver. Now from what I've read and heard from people, wma files r even more compressed than mp3 files giving you more memory space for songs. I also heard it will take away from the quality of the sound. So my question is, when converting mp3 files to wma's, what bit rate should I set it at? I listen to mp3 files at 128 minimum. Also, any good converter programs you can recommend?
When you convert from a lossy format to a lossy format you will lose quality. I would suggest leaving them in MP3 format. On my Zen Micro, they say my battery get's used up quicker when I use .wma files because it uses processer more. In other words it has to work harder to play .wma files. I assume this would be true for all players.
Yea, don't convert your Mp3 files to WMA. You won't increase the sound quality with any setting. The WMA will either be equal or worse than the Mp3 source file.
Ah I see. So with added memory, you sacrifice sound quality regardless along with less battery life. Sounds like an uneven exchange. Thanks for the tip(s).
