Converting *.mpg to *.avi

I have some old VCD that I want to convert to *.avi files. I am using VCDGear to convert the *.dat file to *.mpg files. The *.mpg files have good lip sync but when I convert to *.avi the lip sync goes badly off. I have tried ImTOO and Auto GK but both give bad Lip Syncs.

Any Suggestions?
