Converting ogm & mkv to avi?

    I don't understand these files. someone said I need to extract the files. I just want to play these on my DVD player.

    For a standard DVD player you would need to convert to DVD video. You have an MPEG-4/AVI compatible player?

    For the ogm, chances are only the audio needs re-encoding. The video is definatly avi compatible anyway. The mkv, well it depends on the mkv.
