I've used several converting programs to convert avi to dvd and everyone will freeze my computer. Why is this doing this?
Check the CPU temperature during conversion when it's running close to 100% - just to rule out the chance that it's overheating. http://www.majorgeeks.com/Hmonitor_d269.html
If you have multiple hard drives on the computer, move your avi to a different hard drive or even an external hard drive and retry the conversion. In my situation, when the avi is on a sata drive it would crash, but when I had the file in a ide drive it work fine. Don't know the reason that was causing it to crash but it was trial and error I found the problem. Reloading codecs, never fix this problem for me.
i ve never used a sata drive before and only when I try to convert my computer freezes. last time when i tried to convert I turned the priority to below normal and still froze
