Hello. I would like to create a DVD in DVD-Lab Pro using the video sizes below with as little re-encoding a possible and that will play on most dvd players. It would be easy just to convert everything to dvd complient 720x480 - 29.97 ...but I believe there would be some loss of quality with some unnessessary re-encoding. Correct? I included my guess of what to do or comments after each video size. Correct me if I'm wrong, but for a NTSC dvd, any video that is 25fps should be converted to 29.97fps BEFORE adding to dvd-lab. Right? 1] 320x240 [should be converted to 352x240 ?] 2] 352x240 [no converting. use as is ?] 3] 352x288 [convert to 352x240 ?] 4] 480x480 [use as is ?] 5] 480x586 [convert to 480x480 ?] 6] 720x576 [convert to 720x480 ?] Again. If I should convert a 320x240 to 352x240, will that preserve the quality more than just converting it to 720x480 before adding to dvd-lab? Thank you very much
480x480 is format for svcd... 720x480 is format for (NTSC) dvd.... you could use either and it would play on most dvd players. However, if you want a (NTSC) dvd you will have to encode all the video to 720x480. I am not familiar with dvd-lab pro, but with scenarist, the program most professional dvd's are made with, thats how it is. DVD's have specifications, if your not within them the disk won't work.
