Hi I have some slideshows which I did a couple of years ago using Nero Slideshow, I'd written them to dvds but kept a digital copy. They aren't protected in any way and are my property. I have a Lacie Disc Mini-Home Edition and use it to share files with friends and family. The slideshows won't play in the imbedded media player as it doesn't support vob files. Is there a program, freeware preferably that can convert these files to wmv format so that they play direct from the Hipserver application in the Lacie? Thanks in advance.
Okay.....Whats with people getting banned and posts edited on my thread, have they suggested something bad or is it nothing to do with me? nicolyas suggestion worked fine. Pity it's been edited.
It's just that threads concerning conversion between formats always attracts shedloads of degenerate spammers. The products themselves may well work, the problem we have here at Afterdawn is that the only type of people who push those type of products are spammers. Here's my favourite example of what goes on here day after blessed day ~ http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/542256
Hmmm. As it says under my name, I'm still at the bottom of the learning curve. I may even be a little slow in the head: You removed the names of the converters to prevent spammers from finding them in searches, which they are doing so they can hawk their wares (in spam fashion) on AfterDawn. Did I get that correct?
No, we remove the product names/info as that's what the spammer scum are here to peddle. I have the joy of subscribing to far too many potentially attractive (to spammers) threads as they're so dumb they continually try to peddle their crap here (the link i provided above is a perfect example of this). When i open my email of a morning and see many conversion type email replies listed, i know there's a workshy spammer fiend been at work as i don't usually participate in such threads other than to fend off the fiends and their twoddle. The product names/info in question are only removed when spammed, genuine posters who discuss those products are not stopped from doing so. Many, many spam threads are hidden from view on a daily basis, we only leave valid threads in view, and just remove the spam info. A favourite tactic of spammers is to create professional-looking guides, full of nice pictures and info, but it doesn't take an eagle eye to distinguish those from a genuine tutorial as the so-called guides are full of links to the spammed software. There are also things called spam bots which i can only assume are automated spam mechanisms, i don't know nor care how they work, i just make sure that their spam is not allowed to breed on our forums.
