I have recorded and edited some video footage onto my laptop. It plays with Windows media player (WMV.file). Which is the best software to convert it so it is playable on a normal DVD player? A downloadable version is preferred unless anyone knows of anything better. Thankyou.

Not to many proggys have .wmv support, but Nero Vision Express does. You can download a trial version at www.nero.com there is also a wmv plug-in there you will need to load also. There are probably other proggys that will do wmv also just off the top of my head that is the only one I can think of at the moment.. :)

    Hi there,

VSO DivXtoDVD v0.5.2b can do it for ya.

It's free and very easy to use.

    http://www.vso-software.fr/download.htm

Keep your eyes open for the new DivXtoDVD Pro or Commercial coming out soon.

VSO are in development right now, and I heard rumors it will rock !

Thanx for your help folks but....
I downloaded VSO DivXtoDVD and started the ball rolling. then an hour into converting my WMV file it said I had run out of resources plus there was not enough memory. This was the only application running plus my Laptop is 6 months old with a Pentium4 2.8 proc with 512 Mb of RAM. Surely this is capable of tackling the conversion.

Now when I try the process again, it just creates an empty VTS Folder and nothing more. I didn't download Nero as I prefer a free tool if possible. Any suggestions...Thanx again for your time.

Whoops!! Now that I think of it, this trick of changing the extension is for Real Media Video files(.rmvb)

Sorry for the misinformation. I used to process .rmvb files that way after dropping them on Gold Wave to get an audio file. Sorry.
