does anyone know of a method to convert an avi with WMV3 encoding to divx on either a mac or pc I've found some sites that say to use 'ffmpegX' or 'Compression Master' for mac, but I can't get them to work. I'm trying to do this so that I can play these avi's on the philips dvp 642 Any suggestions would be helpful thanks
WMV3 = Windows Media Video 9. Install WMV9VCM or ffdshow, you should then be able to convert via VirtualDub or similar. ffmpegX I guess should work, although it would need to be recent as VC-1 (WMV9) support in ffmpeg is relativly new. mencoder should also work.
