Convertxtodvd vs Amadis

ok i use convertxtodvd and Amadis software to convert x264 to dvd format and than i watch it on my tv using HD upconverter and HDMI cable so the question would be if all the movies are bigger than 4.5 gigs and i want to achive a maxx picture resolutin do i use dvd5 or dvd9 to get bigger compression for better quality or what would be the best way and also converting the x264 movie with Amadis i get only 1 finnal file which nice and using convertxtodvd i get 5 files from 4.5 gig movie all im trying to do is get better quality and convert to 1 file just like Amadis does not like convertxtodvd by convertin x264 predator mvie 4.4 gig i get at the end 5 files and size is bigger 4.8 gig where Amadis size is smaller and only 1 file at 3.7 gig which to use or which 1 is better or maybe other good software to convert x264 movies
