I have a coolsat 8000 hd box. Was wondering what dish i should get? dish 500 or dish 1000 or any other suggestions?
With the hd stb that are out there today, you will only be able to get hd on bev. You will NOT be able to get hd on dn, 110 and 119
My question was what kind of dish i need to for my coolsat 8000, not the actuall subscribtion but the thing that sits on the roof. Would any work? I just have to point it to the right satellites. But i need a dish that works with HD.
I would think any would work. Just don't get one to small. 18" would be ok I think. Smaller allows more chance of weaker signal and signal lose in heavy rain or snow.
ok cool. So i can go ahead and get a Dish 500 with a triple LNB. to get 110, 119 and 129. I think 129 is my hd satellite. Im in 92675 if that helps.
breck68: From what I have read, you can get hd on bev with a fta hd stb. I haven't tried it, but there are people out there posting that they have it, but it will not work on dish. Something I think about mpeg 4 or something else that is not compatible with the hd units out there right now.
Thanks Bill, I have someone looking to buy a Coolsat 8000 HD, to use with BEV, but wasn't sure if it was worth his while. Needed to know if it would work for him.
I am not sure if you need anything else, I haven't researched it. I guess because I just haven't been interested. I will look around today and see what is needed.
This might help you making a decision. From what is posted at this site, the 8000hd has to have a skywalker board installed to recieve bev hd. What that is I haven't a clue, it seems that the posters over there think it is more trouble than it is worth right not. Here is a C/P from one of the posters that explains what you might run into. To date there is only one box that will get both DN and Bev HD -- that is the Sonicview 8000. Others will gladly deliver HD for only Bev, however be advised: Bev is making changes. They are introducing different types of video streams, narrowing the footprint on current 82 satellite, moving channels, converting channels to HD and not the sharpest resolution at 720 versus 1080 on DN. The HD on DN is awesome and some movies almost look 3D. A high quality tv HD is recommended. Be prepared to babysit the SV-8000. It needs a lot of lovin.' Optionally you can take the easy way and just get a subscription with DN, then for an added $20 a month get all the HD you can handle. This was posted this morning.
Hi! I am having a problem with my coolsat 8000HD and I don't know if it's a hardware issue. :-( It finds the shows, everything is unlocked, the channels are correctly indicated (EX: MMM, VU1, etc), but the channel guide is mostly empty. Only a few shows here and there appear. I have factory reset many times. Didn't help. Also, from time to time, when I click on "EPG" the box shuts down and restarts. Any ideas?
If your guide shows 'No Information' is most boxes, your may be scanning the wrong satellite. If your on 110, scan 110W, 119, scan 119W. etc.
