coolsat receiver question

    when I connect the cable from dish to a new coolsat 5000 receiver, the receiver powers off on its own. What could be wrong ?

    Just a guess but you may have a bad LNB on your dish. The receiver sends control voltage up the wire to the LNB. You may have a shorted LNB or a bad cable causing the receiver to shut down.

    Figured out that if I connect the output of DPP44 (power inserter ?), then it works fine. Do not know why.
