    I want to make a VHS copy of a DVD movie using my [bold]Sony SLV-N71[/bold] video recorder/player and [bold]Sony DVP-NC600[/bold] DVD/CD player.

    How can this be done?

Er, why m8? VHS is out and DVD is in. Many dvd players out there that will play SVCD format. if it were me, convert to SVCD to cd-r(s).You can play the SVCD backup on your pc as well.

VHS is still alive and well in the homes of a lot of older parents and grandparents, where DVD players and PCs with or without burners just don't exist.

I'm beginning to think it is easier and cheaper to buy the VHS tape from Amazon...

Process will be very time consuming but your the boss of your pc m8. One doesn't need a cdrw to play an encoded (S)VCD on a pc, it will play fine on a standard cd-rom with proper software.
