I had to buy RE2. That is fine because it is worth it. When I went to play it it hung up for 5 whole minutes after the "Columbia/Tristar" or whoever made it's screen. Then it played fine. I wonder if their encryption is getting borderline to where DVD players are going to start having troubles. BTW (off topic) is it possible for my DVD player to play PAL and NTSC also? I think it does.
onehowl, First, in regards to RE2, it is a "funny" disc to start with - for one, there is a "God awful" long black screen before the picture starts. I used recode to edit it off. After something like a minute twenty-some second space I finally started the main movie. As for it "hanging" up on the opening screen - I had no problems with my Cyber-Home (el Cheapo) player. Maybe you need to look into a crappy player that will play individual pan pizza As for your player - it should say so on the box OR in the owner's manual. It's common for a player in the U.K. to play both BUT in Europe, it's PAL only and in the U.S. they will only play NTSC. Cheers, Pete
i gave up on this friggin moive this was my fourth copy i tried and still nothing, the first i told you was just the movie no features or menus the second copy and 3rd were everything but u cant choose you have to fast foward through to entire dvd to get where u want and then i tried what you said scubapete about setting the compression and still image with Shrink but the dvd just shows that picture with the red letter...maybe im still doing something wrong i dont know
My [bold]suggestion[/bold] to everyone who is trying to backup Bourne Supremacy is to use a "RW" disk, plus or minus take your pick. This way, if you mess up you can erase the disk and start over without wastein' a few single write disks. If you want to burn it to a +/- R disk, do so AFTER you have successfully burnt it to a ReWriteable DVD Peace, Pop Smith
gmovie69, For backing up Resident Evil Apocalypse. I suggest opening with the new DVD Decrypter (released 01/05/05). Ripping in the "File' MODE, and sending the files to a pre-made VIDEO_TS folder so that it will be ready for recode2 to process. Yes, use recode2 and select Remake a DVD. Import the files and select the one main movie file you like. I selected the wide-screen version (I think it was the second one BUT you can tell by running them through the preview screen.) That's how I did it for about the 4th time last night. Enjoy, Pete :0
@Pop Smith, That is an excellent idea and cannot be suggested often enough. Far too many pple complain day after day of all the coasters they are making and for some reason, it doesn't cross their minds to use a RW disc until they get the bugs out of their project. Burn on "Pop" Burn on . . . .
I found out that i have some TDK -RWs around my house, I am gonna burn ROTK tomorrow via DVD-RB/CCE if I can find the time I'll post the results in the approprate forum.
MAn ..I had a heck of atime ripping Bourne Supremacy......so the little running guy is a security thingy....I guesss I'll have to look for these unrefernced items in later DVDs? thanks...Pete you're real smart...
The whole thing is very simple and all it has to do with is a file in the unreferenced material when using DVD Shrink Replace the first menu of the unreferenced material with a "still image" and it will copy with no problems! I have come across this problem a few times when backing up my movies and this has always worked.Any more questions feel free to ask.
my personal recommendations are as follows (your mileage may vary) - 1/ rip from a dvd-rom drive, NOT the dvd burner. 2/ make sure said dvd-rom drive has region-free hassles removed, ie region-free via firmware 3/ sort the firmware for dvd burner. i did dip my toe in the specialised firmware you can download & tweak, but found best results were to install latest stock firmware 4/ tried the 4300mb limit, even went to 4000mb limit, but crappy media still freezes/skips anywhere on the disc prior to the said limits. 5/ keep burn speed to 4x even with 8x media/modern burner 6/ ditched crappy media and pay a couple of quid more per tub of media. verbatim's seem to be doing nicely at the moment. the last 100 have anyway I only rip main movie anyway, i only use dvd shrink, have used decryptor 2 maybe 3 times for troublesome/dirty discs. there is not one film i have been unable to rip (and i include bourne supremacy in that). as i say everyone's mileage varies, but i read so many posts where peepl can't rip discs, not one of which have i been unable to rip myself. Thats the way to go Rich, It looks like you have a good setup going, stick with it - Learning that lesson about media is indeed a hard-to-believe one BUT the difference is outstanding backups. Burn on Buddy, burn on . . . . Pete edited to replace my sig links ~
... Mr Pete, I was a lurkin' around and your DVD backup corner got me a drooling .. But just a moment my friend ... I clicked it and to my heartfelt dismay the page couldn't be displayed ... Now I'm all sad and heartbroken ... Comeon Pete my friend ... Why are ya teasing the cat?

If it doesn't show up for one reason or another feel free to PM me - "POP" That goes for you too - Yes, I do get a bunch of emails BUT you need to give me a "Heads up" when something like that happens - You s/b all set. Glad you like it Cat. FasFrank, one of the Senior Members set the site up. He was a "senior" back in the day, before numbers counted. Heck, that's the only reason I'm an Addict ~ (Lol) Pete
