Is there any software (free or commercial) which enables you to apply a copy protection/encryption to homemade DVD's?
Well, initially it was only a thought about just protecting the way my work is delivered really. I shoot weddings and always want to ensure if any DVD copies were required by my clients they'd be done by me, presented in the correct boxes, printed up professionally blah blah ie an exact clone of the original. Also copies are good extra revenue. Incidentally I've been on another forum looking at some of the responses to this and I can see the point that once the client buys the product they own it (eg photographers giving clients the negatives)so I'm not that bothered really but would at least stop kids mucking about and taking money from our pockets.......
The equipment and process needed to encrypt a dvd is way beyond what can be done on a home system. If not done properly it would cause problems with playback. The cost of the equipment is also probably out of the question. I understand your reason for wanting to do this, but if it was possible, programs like Shrink and decrypter would remove it anyway. I think you're out of luck on this one. Jerry
Yes Jerry, this seems to be the general concensus of opinion (trying to be too smart I think). Thanks for your helpful response anyway.
