Up till now dvd shrink has never failed me,until i tried to back up my copy of "how to lose a guy in 10 days". It comes up with failed to read file"d:" copy protection error-the read failed because the sector is encrypted. Please can anyone offer some help?
Give the disc a good clean and try again. I find about 1 in 50 discs will refuse to rip no matter what you try but it will not be Shrinks fault.
I backed up that movie with no problem with just DVD Shrink. So not sure what is going on with your copy. Good luck.
I have cleaned the disc and still no luck. Then i tried dvd decryptor and it worked, but the file is too big and cant find a way to shrink the file in decryptor.I did it 1 other time with shrink but it wont recognise the file format this time as decyrptor said it had to use brute force format and another message said the regions weren't the same and to get some firmware. I have no idea about firmware and how to download etc. If anyone could help me i would really be grateful.
hello discmania.......when you say about 1 in 50 discs fail no matter what, do you mean discs or films, ie another copy of the same film may work fine?
I mean some original discs can have small points of damage which cannot be detected by looking at the disc but will show up when trying to rip i.e. the disc stops ripping and messages saying 'cannot read' will show. In such circumatances there is no chance of backing up that disc unless a quick clean of the disc produces a result (not very often).
nephilim!!!!......you my friend are a star!!!!. i was having same problem as daz_oz and i'd never heard of "dvddycryptor". have just used it to store dvd on hard drive then found dvd shrink did the business in the usual manner......thanks a lot for a wonderful push in right direction
