Not sure how to do this..Can't find anything in the manuals. Can i copy a VCR directly to my computer and import the files into Nero to burn?
The short answer is Yes... However, there is a bit to it... First, you will need an input on your computer that can take an analogue signal... You can buy PCI Cards (Capture Boards/TV Boards) or USB Dongles... Each have there Pros and Cons... Once you have your analog video source, you need to decide how you want to capture the video... uLead DVD Factory and Sony Vegas are Top Apps for the task... File Format:- You can use either of above to capture MPEG or AVI If you capture straight to MPEG, then you will need very little space and get reasonable quality... This is quite adequate for VHS Movies or such... You can set capture bit-rate quite high and pin graph to 720x576 on most modern cards allowing a very close copy. If you are capturing your (or someone's) treasured memories, you may want perfect replication... Capturing to AVI will make this possible... If your PC is a beast, you can compress on the fly and still be able to capture with very little space... However, this route make VCD/DVD production complicated... Burning a DVD Movie in Nero - Burning ROM requires preparing Video Object files first anyway. Sony DVD Architect can do the whole job and rather well, however it is recommended you do not compress AVI files for this... It complicates things...
For a very quick and simple WHS to VCD, Capture to MPEG-I 1120kbps, 352x288, 25Hz This will go straight through nero to VideoCD provided it's less than 80 minutes. I hope these comments help...
