im having trouble finding a guide that pertains to me, all i want to do is copy a dvd+r i got from the hospital that has my wifes sonogram on it so i can send to my family, all the guides and programs i find pertain more to ripping dvd movies, im pulling my hair out over here, i thought this would be quite a simple task, ive downloaded nero 8, magic dvd ripper and dvd cloner 5

If you have Nero8, just click on "Copy DVD". Icon looks like two discs overlapping each other(in version 7).
You do not need any ripper, unless DVD is protected which, in your case, I doubt.

Try ImgBurn. It's a very good free program for what you looking for-non encrypted, non compressed backups, and a pretty quick and easy 1 program process.

    http://www.imgburn.com/

1)Another problem you may encounter is the compatability factor between the hospital's dvd +r disc and your dvd-rom/Dvd-rw drive, and even stand alone players. This problem is the no disc error,in which your dvd-rw drive will not recognize that backup, after it is inserted.Your ripping drive will have to recognize that hospital backup or else you'll have to find another drive.

Dash has a higher compatability rate as apposed to basic Plus. But,if that Plus backup was booktyped to dvd-rom,it'll have superiority over the dash format.

If you do make extra copies, booktype them to dvd-rom if your dvd-rw drive has that capability.

2)Another problem, hopefully that dvd+r backup wasn't burned too fast, used crappy media, used a crappy dvd-rw drive,and/or has a paper sticker label. All those lead to errors and possibly the worst error of all- CRC error/s.

any good burning program will be able to make a copy of a DVD. ImgBurn is a good one and it's free...... but you can use Nero, CloneDVD, CopyToDVD, DVDFab Platinum, and many many other programs just to make copies! And as usual, starting out with good media will determine if it's compatible with most DVD players. Use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and burn at half the rated speed of the disk. Booktyping to DVD-ROM for your +R media and using Taiyo Yuden..... UNBEATABLE COMPATIBILITY for any DVD player!
