copying dvds

    hi all, im new to this. i want to make copys of my dvd movies. i have a sony pc p111 850 meg and a second hd26g. it has a dvd player and cd burner im thinking about getting an external dvdr/w which burner
    and copy software will work with no problems.

    iceteaman - I wouldn't recommend getting an external DVD/RW unless your PC has USB2.0. You can check this in your device manager. The USB devices must say "Enhanced". I'm guessing by your spec that you won't have that but you can check anyway. I would recommend that you do what I did. I took back my external DVD/RW (after I discovered that my PC only had USB 1.1) and replaced it with an Internal device. Therefore, replace your CD burner with a DVD Burner as this will do CDs and DVDs. It works a treat! As for software, I am using the trial versions of AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 and they work perfectly and they are very easy to use.

    Would recommend internal rather than external DVD burner.

    Plextor and Pioneer are both very durable and reliable brands.

    Software I would recommend are:
    DVD Shrink
    DVD Decrypter
    Nero 6

    Shink and Decrypter are freeware with both software and guides available from this site.

    Read some of the guides available on this site.
