no.. looking at your pic, the system.cnf is in the base directory, but ulaunchelf.elf is in a folder, you need both of them in the base directory

    Yep that will work :)

OK all you have to do is go to this link http://sms.ps2-scene.org/eng/cdimage.htm and at the top of the page there are two links, one for pal and one for ntsc, download the one you want, extract the files and youll have a bin image that you can burn to CD and its ready to go in your ps2, all the work is done for you. Includes SMS media player.
    Full credit to ps2-scene.org

Thanks for the tutorial dan168, I now have a complete game save with every thing unlocked for Black on my memory card!

go to that link and click on pal if you use pal or ntsc if you use ntsc, what you download from there is ulaunelf and sms player in one.
Youll get a zipped folder or rar file after downloading, right click it and select extract here. Now you have a bin and cue file, burn the bin image to CD and it boots with swap magic no prob, Press 0 to enter the file browser, follow dans guide from there.

edit> when you go to that page you can ignore everything below the pal/ntsc links, Thats only for people who want to compile there own CD with newer versions and there own content.

No you dont need anything else, just the bin image you downloaded and a blank CD to put it on, a memory stick for your saves(I use my mp3 player) and swap magic or modchip to boot the CD.

Kasmember Im not sure exactly what your trying to do but please just for a minute, forget about CNF files and base directories, Go to page two and read my posts, You go to the link I have supplied and click either PAL or NTSC, Extract the contents of your download, You get a bin and a cue. Open dvd decrypter and select iso write, Browse for the bin, Burn it to a CD. Yes dvd decrypter will let you burn a bin file to a CD. Thats all you have to do.
I will not explain this again.

I tried the method you posted by burning the image to a CD but it wouldn't read on the PS2...or it did not work.

Works fine for me, Ive done both pal and ntsc to test it, no probs.
What are you using to boot the CD? and do your other CD backups boot and play ok?

Note: The first time I tried to burn this, I used cloneCD (write from image file) and it failed to boot. Use dvd decrypter, it worked for me.
