Im new to this dvd-r game and am looking for a way of backing up a load of mpg files onto dvd-r to be able to play in my toshiba sd220. The normal way I would do it would be to use nero create video disc function, that is fine for normal cdrs but there doesnt seem to be the same method when you select dvd in nero. Can it be done?

You may have to join the mpg's first. Once you have a single mpg, I can suggest Nero. It's actually Nerovision which comes with Nero Burning software, and you have to buy their mpg/DVD plug in for $20 at nero.com. Another is Sonic myDvd which also converts mpg to DVD format, and I'm sure there's a few others. Since you wanted multiple mpgs you'd be creating chapters (authoring) pointing to each mpg as the first step before the burn. You'll also want to know up front that although a DVD holds 4.7 gig, the mpg file will almost double in size when you convert it.
