Download dvd decrypter works perfect every time or try nero.

I’ve been searching the forms the last few days and cant seem to find a hard answer of YES or NO on burning PS2 games with DVD Decrypter.

I insert my original ps2 game into my DVD burner. I select ISO read, it writes to my hard drive. After it’s complete I replace the game disk with a blank DVD-R (Memorex 8x media) and select ISO write, it then copies the ISO file to my DVD-R at 4x speed.

Using the swap magic 3.3 slide card system, load the DVD swap magic disk, replace the swap magic disk with the DVD-R copy, the screen always reads “Not A Valid PS2 Disc”

    My PS2 is v9.

A question? DVD Decrypter writes 2 files to my hard drive. A ISO file and a MDS file.
The ISO file is large and the MDS file is very small like about 4kb or so. I have tried to burn both file onto the disc together but dvd decypter won’t let me, so I just burn the ISO file cauls it’s the largest one, like 200 meg to 2.7 gig depending on the game I am copying.

Should I be copying the MDS file to the burner? Or ISO? Or both?

I think the media is OK cauls I have copied a few DVD movies with the same batch of DVD-R’s that I am using with Clone DVD and they all worked fine.

If this question has already been asked than I’m very sorry, I just haven’t been able to find the answer.

    Thanks Dave

    DVD Decrypter tutorial
    http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id4.html

    you burn the MDS file

And Nero will work but DVD Decrypter does a better job and is easier to use, and is free

always buy good media like Philips, TDK, Verbatim Ritec G04
What works for movies will not always work for games. Movies you can use any old discs and games need to have good media for the best success.

Never burn higher than 4X for best results

Memorex discs are just crap! Never worked for me with games, movies worked ok but not games at all.

atvdave. if you are getting the message "not a valid ps2 disc" and you are using swapmagic you should not see that screen i think you are not using your slide tool correctly. if it was just a bad copy or didnt work properly you would get a black screen or red border screen.some one here the other day was not using their slide tool to close the tray and was wondering why it didnt work.dvd decryptor will work fine. the media will be fine if you are making movies. your problem is definitly to do with your swapmagic. insert smd dvd wait till it loads then use slide card to open. then swap with your backup, push tray back in, using left side of tray. then insert slide tool again pull gently from right to left until it shuts/catches properly. press x.good to go, do not press eject button as this will bring up screen "not a valid ps2 disc" good luck.

Ok guys, for those of you who mention about getting "not a valid PS2 disc" when using Swap Magic, try pressing the SQUARE button instead of the X button. Square button is for Special boot as X is for NOrmal. I got the "not a valid ps2 disc" message as well, but when press SQAURE, it boots fine. Try that and let me know. Im using SM 3.6 and tried it on 2.0 and works the same way.

Steimy... Do I need to copy both the MDS & ISO file togeather? I tryed with DVD Decrypter and it would only let me copy one file, So I picked the ISO file.

    or just the mds file?

I'm new at dvd decrypter so maybe i'm doing somthing worng. Also i'll go the best buy later and pick up some diffrent dvd media.

    Thanks for your help..

Atvdave, ok, I don't know anything much about dvd decrypter, but i did used it before and it is very simple. About the MDS and ISO files, you don't have to select both. Just select one and im sure either one will be fine. I haven't tried the MDS file yet, but i have read it somewhere online that it works the same way, but personally i would choose the ISO file. To me, the mds file is like the .cue file for .bin. and .img files, except mds is for the iso. As for burning, i recommend u to burn it at the slowest possible speed, possible 1x because some games will not work at all at higher speed. How do i know? Well, personal experience. I tried to burn Smackdown Shut Your Mouth at 2x and turned out it works but really slow and music is on and off while pictures are simultaneously freeze and go, but at 1x it works fine. Well, hope that help alil, if not, im sure someone here will now better. Good Luck!

like i said, with DVD Decrypter you burn the MDS file.
I have made many back ups and that is what i do.
    Set your write speed to 1X for 4X DVD's and 4X with 8X DVD's
And make sure they are good quality DVD's
And no you can not play any back ups on your PS2 without modding it in some way. Usually the "not a valid PS2 disc" is due to 1.the fact that you are using cheap media, 2. that you just got a bad burn, 3. that that particular game needs to be rubuilt as some do with swap magic.

steimy, you are absolutely right about burning everything, but i just wanted to add one thing and that is that i dont think it matters to which files u burn, MDS or ISO, both will work just fine as i just tested a while ago. Well good luck and yes MODCHIP or Swap Magic is required to play back up games, other possibilities can be Gameshark 2 v2, and i think Action Replay?..not sure bout AR but Gameshark2 v2(one of the first gameshark version released for ps2) will sure work.

lol from what i saw in the first posts it actually looks like someone is burning the mds and iso file onto a dvd.

    eg. D:\games.iso and D:\games.mds

maybe im wrong but if i was a complete noob to ps2 burning i would probablyd o that :p

    I have a question:

How come every time I burn a game it works fine at the first try but subsequently when I want to play it again it doesn't work anymore. The ps2 seems to making noises indicating that it can't read the disc or something.

    Can someone tell me why?

I have a modded ps2 (infinity mod chip I think...that's what is displayed on the boot screen)

burned the games using TDK now using Ritek media DVD-R. Burn at 4X

    Pioneer DVD Burner.

Pls help, this is driving me nuts!!

I also have a problem booting some games days after they were working fine, My Midnight Club Dub, Juiced, GT4 (ripped to dvd5), F1 2005.. and a few more, Once they were working perfect but now either they dont load or are very very slow to where its unplayable.
I have the Crystal Chip with the latest Firmware and Bootmanager 1.6.
i've burnt over 30 games and about 5-6 are having probs. Im using the Ritek G05 and burning in Dvd Decrypter at 4X.
    any help would be appreciated

i found that dvd-r's are weak as piss

just being put in the ps2 seems to scratch them enough to not work with modchips.... also dvd players

best bet is buying dvd+rs in cases, so far these have worked 100% of the time for me,

aviod buying spindles, they may be cheap, but the dvds can come scatched ( two 25 spindles i have are useless!!!!!!), also you dont have a case for em once burnt
