I've been reading a lot of great info on this forum, but I have a question that might fill in some holes in what I've been reading. I hope this is the correct forum for this question.

I'm using a stand-alone DVD recorder to record TV shows off my DVR. I want to then take a finished DVD to my computer and copy it to my hard drive for storage and viewing on a software DVD program? Can I just copy the VIDEO_TS director using Windows or do I need to use some software as if I was copying a commercial DVD? Does it matter if I used VR mode or video mode? Does it matter if I used DVD-RW or DVD+RW?

    Thanks,
    Todd

The requirement is that the disk be finalized (where applicable) in the DVD Recorder.

The the actual video folder containing the actual video files, can be dragged from the disk to the desktop using windows.

The applicable folder can be 'VIDEO_TS' (it will contain .VOB files)or in the -VR setup, it's the 'DVD_RTAV' directory which will contain a single file, named 'VR_MOVIE.VRO'

Some players or software might not care for the .VRO extension, so it can be renamed .mpg if required.
