I am new to copying DVDs. I now have AnyDVD and Clone DVD and have experienced no problems to date.

I am curious as to what sped most people copy their dvds at? I am also curious if the speed has any affect on the quality.

    Any feedback would be great.

4x is par for most of us. It usually depends on what you do with your backups. Some stand alones have playback issues on the faster burns. Some media also has trouble when you try burning faster=coasters.

For me,4x is max. I do re-rip my backups occasionally.Too fast a burn speed along with quality media is the key. A quality burner also comes in handy. It's all about errors.Keeping those errors down will help on. I get more errors at a 2.4x burn speed.

Safe and steady 4x till you get the hang of it. Later, you can try upping it,but make sure your stand alone/s can handle the faster burns before you do too many backups.

twebber: What is the brand name and model# of your dvd-rw drive?

Perhaps he/she is also asking about the ripping speed as well?

to be honest, i am unsure of my model and brand of my rw drive. it came with my pc. its a new dell. i have done some basic copying using the maximum speed setting in CloneDVD and have not noticed any errors or problems. but as i get more savvy with this, i wanted to get the opinion of those who have been doing this for awhile. i believe my rw will copy at 16x, but i dont know if that is copying, ripping or what. most of that confuses me.
