copying vhs to dvd

    Just wondering how to go about copying a vhs movie to dvd+r disk. Pretty new at all of this and could use some guidance. Thanks!

    H there jl2005, welcome to aD,

    The first thing is to find a way to get your VHS tapes into the PC. There are 2 ways:

    1. A capture card installed into the PC where you can plug RCA wires from your VHS player into the PC.

    OR

    2. An outside unit that uses a USB cable to connect.

    I use the second way myself.

    Then play the tape into the computer grab a neat software program such as DivxToDVD and click one single button and the files are changed from the VHS format into a DVD compliant format and burned in to the waiting DVD disc.

    **Of course you have to have a DVD writer. If you need one, one can be had for about $65.00 to $75.00 (USD) for an up-to-date, decent quality new one.

    what is an outside unit because i am trying to find the easiest way to put my vhs tapes to dvds
