before I purchase my 3rd copy of Nemo, I was wondering if their was anyway to restore my son's worn out second copy and copy/burn it to dvd. I have AnyDVD and Roxio. He loves this movie and since we have already purchased two copies I don't see a problem with backing it up for him. I did not see a thread of this nature already posted.
Have you tried ripping it with AnyDVD's built-in ripper? An even easier approach is to download DVD-Decrypter and IMGBurn and make an ISO file with DD, then have IMGBurn burn the ISO to a blank DVD. If you do this, make sure to select the MDS file, not the ISO, because Nemo needs a double-layer disc from what I hear. Make sure AnyDVD is running when using DVD-Decrypter as DD does not handle modern protections.
I use Nero myself and do not know if Roxio has a transcoding program included with their suit. But you can try ussing DVDShrink which is free and you can get it at the link below. Just run AnyDVD in the background then use DVDShrink to copy and transcode the DVD to a DVD5 disc. DVDShrink ----> http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm DVDShrink Guide ----> http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm If you come across CRC erros (cycilic rudundency error) then the disc more then likly is scratched or dirty. Try cleaning the disc and if there are scartches on the disc try to repair them with a DVD reapir kit. Or you could use toothpaste and a soft clothe. (DO NOT RUB IN CIRCLES) ----------------------------------------------------- Rinse with water. This does work I have done it on a few DVD's that I have had scratches on. Once it is clean and dry place back into your DVD drive and try running it through DVDShrink again.
