    Hello,

I'm a member of a message board and recently, I mentioned a DVD that I had made from a concert that was shown on TV. The concert, which was over a year ago was never released on DVD, and to our (the fans) knowledge, has no plans to be released. So, someone asked me if I could send them a copy of the show - is this legal? I don't see why not - They play it on TV a lot ( but on Showtime ) and this person doesn't have it, but the content can be accessed on some websites, just not in full because of the large size, is also available in bootlegs ALL over the internet...but for some reason, I'm afraid to send it.

What do you think? I'm also NOT charging for anything - well, I am charging for shipping - but that's it. So, i'm making NO money from the artist.

I thought TV broadcasts were public domain.

PBS is the only channel I know of where you're free to copy and exhibit.

It is not legal to give a copy to his friend. Fair Use allows personal copys of broadcasts and videos to be made. Sharing them is a no no.

Defo illegal on that one but i can't see the harm long as it's not for profit, but it does go on for example i have just joined a particular forum and in one of the threads i came across this. Backups for sale on the understanding you own the original, damned if i know how they could own the original to a couple of these titles. They are blatantly advertising the lot dvds, music, ps2, xbox,pc. It is this kind of ****shit behaviour that helps the powers at be frown upon the ones who LEGALLY back up our original Discs. and just gives them more ammo I just pasted the following but if a mod deemss it against the rules then i truly appolgise and will withdraw it immedialtely. This is just an example it blatantly goes on and on for pages and thats just one thread!!!!!!!
