A while ago a bunch of guides including software were removed from afterdawn. Does anyone have a way to donwload the guides that were removed? I would also like to get ahold of the removed software as well but the guids are of more importance to me. Please help if you can. Thanks...

A while ago some useful guides were taken off of this site. I remember someone gathering all the guides and making a zip file which included all the removed one. I am wondering if anyone knows where to find that file. I am also looking for the software that was removed from the site but im more intrested in the guides.

Most of the software in question is for decryption purposes. AD's home, Finland, recently put into effect stricter copyright protection laws. Apps like DVD Decrypter, DVDFab Decrypter, AnyDVD, DVD43 and the like are prohibited. Here's the notice one gets when searching for the apps.

This software is no longer available, this page is stored for archival puposes only.

On 1st of January, 2006, a new copyright legislation came into force in Finland that made it illegal to distribute tools that allow circumvention of technical copy protections. The legislation was approved by Finnish parliament and was based on European Union Copyright Directive, a law that each EU member state has to implement to their national legislations.

As AfterDawn Ltd is a company located in Finland, we have to obey the new copyright legislation and therefor, the software you were searching for, is no longer available. For more details on options we tried to find, how the law changed our site and more, please read this article.

I'm surprised DVD Shrink is still available, since it incorporates decryption software. Better get a copy while you still can. ;)

I did a search on old posts that I took place in and found the guides and software links that I was looking for. I guess it pays to only have 3 posts it makes it a lot easier to search for what you looking for. Anyway, thanks for the help.

Interesting. An entire thread on requesting the whereabouts of software and guides and the names of the apps never mentioned. Then the Newbie finds, on his own, where it was. Makes you wonder why the need to post in the first place. More newbies should learn to search before posting.

Makes me curious as to the need, considering a number of the guides were out of date, and the software could be had by just asking.

You're right. All one needs to do is follow the links in DVD Shrink and they can find all the guides they want. The sites with Shrink guides have them on most of the other apps for doing backups; Doom9, MrBass, and DVDShrink.info readily come to mind (and there are others).
