I've installed my drive with the jumpers set to master,XP ID's the drive ,device manager looks good, but when I try to play anything(dvd, cds)I get "device not ready" notification,or "please insert disc into drive" could it be the jumper setting?

correction, after switching the jumper to slave the drive still won't play DVD movies with WinDVD,I was wrong on my earlier post ,the drive will play music cd's ,my buddy's band has a cd sampler with video Mpeg on it and video played through it,but it still won't read DVD, it's acting like a CD-rom ,what is wrong here? that same buddy said it might need drivers, but the software that came with the drive has Sonic,WinDVD, and a Auto-G whatever that is, could there be a driver imbedded in any of these that will make my DVD-R act like a recorder and not just a CD-rom? where's my Tylenol? any advice would be helpful, thanks
