I've got a 250Gb External Maxtor Harddrive. It just stopped working properly. When I connect it to my PC, or any pc even, it is recognised but it's name doesnt come up it just comes up as D, or F or whatever. When I click on it to open an error message comes up and says D:/ Is not accesible, The file or diretory is corrupted and unreadable. What should I do?

All my music, photos, and movies are on it.

Go to download.com and search for PC Inspector. It is a data recovery program. Once it is loaded, check the physical drives. Select the physical drive (Fixed Disk #2 probably) and have it look for logical drives. Once this is done, you will be able to search for lost files and be able to offload them onto another drive (hopefully).

    Good luck.
