I'm using the R300...Settings are 1. Photo or Best Photo 2. size - A4 3. source - manual 4. media - CD/DVD Premium surface 5. color management - color control 6. gamma - 1.8 7. contrast - +5 8. saturation - +5 I'm still tying to get it better..if you can make it look better with different setting please let me know. Rich
I have the inner/outer diameter settings for the verbs at 43 x 119 - no white on the disc. Since they're matte I increased the print color correction to +1. They look good.
Yes...I forgot to mention that.. I also had the Print Color Corection at +1...But 43 on the inner circle for the verbs seems kind of big I was doing 36. on the outer circle I had 118 but I'm getting a thin white circle, I try 119.. Rich
@RichDee Oops thanks for pointing that out!!! I have the inner at 37 not 43 on the verbs- there would be too much white space around the hub! If you ever use the silver inkject Taiyo Yuden try 42/43 for the inner.
I completly disagree with the posts stating that the Costco TDK's are junk. I've burned nearly 40 disks at 8-16x with only one coaster which was caused by a known problem that I have with any media including Verbatum when burning with CloneDVD2. Nero burns fine 100% of the time. I would expect that the problem burning TDK media is related to the burner or related firmware not the disk. Just my 2 cents worth.
I must agree that when Costco has their buy one get one free sale on TDK I can't resist. I have had the TTG01 and TTG02 varieties, use three difernt burners, and have not had a problem. Compatibility with set top players has bee very good as well. Other users (Doc TY-Kivory666) do not like this media, but it has been good to me when price was too good to pass up.
@stan well, you nailed it right on the dot, but, it's MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION on TDK, everyone has their own preferences of different types of media...if it's been working well for you, especially at such a good price, when you get one free; i can do/say absolutely NOTHING in regards to future purchases seems like many members here KNOW what i "prefer" and what i don't...and that's all good, whatever works well for YOUR individual setup, please, by all means, continue using it~ docTY~
@thelox714: The TTG01 4X DVD-R burned more than two years ago with a NEC 1300 are still working without a problem. In fact I have never had one of the TTG01 or TTG02 go bad out of approx #200 total. Of course I like TY (MIJ Fuji), Verbatim (MCC), and Sony better, but sometimes the deal is too good to pass up. It's not like were talking about GQ, Princo, or CMC.
well said, it's good to try all sorts of diff. kind of media to find the best combination for your needs~ docTY~
Hey, I bought that same deal from Costco and got TTHO2 (-R) and CMCMAG (+). So far 10 good burns, but will they crap out on me down the road?
I'll chime in too With the TDK I had the same experience as StanH. Bought some a few years ago and burned them with the same NEC130. I just scanned a few of them and they still score in the 90's. With TDK MIJ I think you can still get some very decent media. The Taiwanese are the ones that are problematic. Actually the same discussion is taking place at VideoHelp.
@81chris For the CMC's - in my experience yep they will crap out on you down the road. You may even get a few or more burn errors w/ them.
81chris, If you can take those TDK dvd+r's back and exchange them for the -r's or some other good quality media. Beware of TDK +r media in the future.
Thanks guys, so the TTHO2's are OK then? They seem fine so far, but if they will skip later on I may as well take them back too.
As i said in the 3rd post on this topic, there is nothing wrong with the TDK 8x or 16x +R media. My 8x are caewp13 and the 16x are cdmwp01 I have two burners, a nec3540ag (cheap OEM writer) and an old 4x Pioneer 106d. Have burned hundreds of tdks on both writers and not one coaster. I recently had to upgrade the firmware on the nec to accommodate the 16x tdks but set it to 12X to write to just to be on the safe side. Even though I did burn a couple of discs at 16x with perfect results, I'll just play it safe with my writer. All the naysayers that harp about the poor quality of the tdks prob just have their own issues to resolve (either with firmware; dirt; inferior writers; poor software; insufficient thermal solutions; liars; ect ect ect......
To add to my previous post, I found a couple of TDK disks that coded out as Ritek G04, just scanned one to see. It gave me a quality score of 78%. This disk was burned in december 03.
You should get better results at slower burn speeds, that is the gneral rule it was probably just a small irregularity in the disk or maybe you were using your computer while burning?
