I have a question. Is it true that older models of GC, gamecubes that we bought when it was first launched in the Japan/US will become much harder to install the modchip? Do we need to change the lens/board etc?
Because i've already sent my GC to be modded, but then the technician informed me that he couldn't install the modchip because my GC is from the older models. He will only install the modchip if i change the inside of my GC and i had to pay him $25 + $60 for the modchip. Do you guys think that he was trying to fool me?

I think he is. How can you change the inside of the GC? Think about it. Plus the modchip dev teams would have made sure the chips corrispond with the older models no?

That's what i'm thinking. But he's the only person that i knew how to install those modchips. Guess i just have to pay him that extra money. If only i knew how to install those modchips myself. Thanks xxsaijin for your reply. Gladly appreciated. ^_^

$60??, i think you should try to install it yourself first, the gc chip was the very first modchip i installed and it was pretty easy.

I'm pretty sure there are only three types of GameCubes, and the current chips work on all of them.

He's just trying to get more money out of you. That's all.

My advise, take it to an electrition. Goto any guys shop that involves chip repairs. Pay hime like 30 bucks or something.

PS take a printed version of how to install the diagrams for the modchip. www.qoobchip.com for he Qoob chips. I don't know about Viper GC but ask around. BTW Qoob also has 2 models, A&B, C.
