I use DVD Shrink and Nero to burn copies of DVD's. I usually don't have any problems, but for some reason, the last 3 I've attempted to back up have failed with a "Could not perform end of disk-at-once" error. I tried burning a data disk, but ended up having the same problem. Here is an error log of my attempt to create a data disk with nero -- I can't make heads or tails out of any of this, but hopefully one of you guys can!

    Hi Tri_Hime
    Welcome to aD
    Here's some suggestions:
Update your firmware to the latest H124. Has a few fixes for media and burning programs. Here's a link:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...roduct=1151190&dlc=en&softwareitem=pv-42566-1
512 mb in memory would be much better - upgrade if you can. In the mean time keep as much free as possible - you are running very low. No multitasking and closes any unnecessary programs.
Not very good at (memorex maybe). Better to use would be Verbatim or made in Japan only Sony, Fuji or Maxell.
Try 8x or even lower for these.
Nero can use an update too. Update to 6.6.0.18 - the last version of 6 to autoburn w/ Shrink.
    Package 1
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

    Package 2 (recode & vision)
    http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

Try these and keep us posted!

The prompts tell me I need to create a bootable thumb, disk, floppy, or ISO for DVD's, etc.... but I think either the file is too big for my disks or there's something wrong with the burner, because I keep getting some kind of vague error. I really don't know how to work ISO's, so....

-snerk- you caught that, did you? Yeah... my poor little desktop is loved, abused, and overused (and what i'm stuck with until i can afford the one i want), but we've managed to chew out a couple decent dvd's in the past, so I don't know why this would cause problems now. But since you mentioned it, i'll make sure to shut down my browser and stuff before I do anything else.

Tan perceptivo! They are indeed memorex. I wasn't aware that DVD type made that big of a difference. But like I said before, I did recently burn backups and data dvd's with what I have now.

Nero is updated. I figured I should do another post before I trash another half dozen DVD's with failed burns.

ok let's see on the firmware did you download the installer? Should just prompt you thru the steps on 'flash' the drive thru the installer.
What exactly does the error say?

Yeah those memorex can be hit or miss - no guarantee the whole spindle will work (been there done that :) ) Reduce the burn speed on them.

The memory you just meet the minimum requirements but you have 84% in use so need to free some up. I can definitely understand the upgrade part - lots more I would like but alas comes the $$$ issue :)
