Could someone look at my scan and let me know how I could possibly fix a issue. If you notice at the very beggining there is a spike. All my scans seem to be this way. So I figure I might be burning wrong? Here are my specs: PIV 2.8 ghz 768MB Memory BenQ DW1655 Nero 6.6.0.18 InCD UNINSTALLED 300 GB hard drive Verbatim 16X Printable DVD+R (booktype DVD-ROM) MCC004 The computer isn't hooked up to the internet. No virus scan or anything else running. Also, on some of my scans it doesn't stop at the movie size. It just keeps scanning then gives me the following error: If you notice it kept scanning to 4410. I'm not burning to 4410. Thanks for any advice. beltline
@beltline I've noticed that my MCC004 has more PI Errors than any of my YUDEN000T02 and MAXELL002 (Hitachi High Grade, MIJ). I think that's how it is from MCC004 (16X Verbatim). I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's just how it burned according to my burner (DRU710A, a rebadged SOHW 1633S). Your scans looks fine to me. I mean considering that you have got a 94 & 95 on the Quality score, that's high enough to be considered normal and or "high quality" media. Have you ever tried to burn at 4X, 6X or 10X to see if you'll get any better results on the quality? As for the errors you're getting, I've never experienced/encountered it before. So I really can't comment on that part. Have you tried to "uninstall or completely" clean out Nero and reinstall it back on "without" InCD? Is your ASPI current and properly working when you checked with Nero Info Tool?
alkohol - thanks for the reply. I have tried 4X and 6X, haven't tried 10X yet. I'll try that tonight. Surprisingly the 6X gave me my worst scan (92). I have gotten some 97's but 95 seems to be the norm. My ASPI has been corrupted for over a year, but the Nero one is good. Guess I better look into fixing that. [bold]DOH![/bold] I tried several times last year, but it never worked. Figured if things were working okay, let it be. But I'll dig deeper into why it doesn't want to fix. Figure I'll do the uninstall, clean, reinstall of Nero while I'm at it. Thanks for all the suggestions alkohol! Oh yeah, that dang error message. Not sure why it does that? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. However it just started doing that with this last batch of Verb +R non-hub printables. Doesn't seem to care on my other ones. Maybe Nero CD/DVD speed doesn't like non-hub printables .
Are you booktyping those +R's? Maybe that has something to do with reading over the limits of your file size?
Yes, I am booktyping to DVD-ROM. As a matter of fact I just started doing that after reading about it in these forums. That's why I bought the BenQ, so I could booktype. I also switched to +R media around this same time? I'll try one tonight without booktyping and see if that makes a difference. Thanks
I have the same Benq and use the same Verts you do. My scans are real similar with the big spike at the start. But they play great. I am not getting the error that you are. Are you getting any burn failures? If so post a log and alkohol will figure it out. He has helped me many times
The spike is really not that big, it is just proportioned that way because it is the largest spike...if you were really having problems, the graph would expand to show a larger spike and your small spike would...well look small.
Okay, I got the aspi thing fixed. That took some time, had to resolve to force aspi. I think the scan thing may be that the end comes up 4482 in Nero C/DVD speed even though I am not burning that far. If I stop the scan at the point I am burning to, I don't get that error. I'm still doing some testing and I'll let you all know what I find out.
I completely uninstalled Nero, ran all clean programs. Rebooted, added Nero back, rebooted. ASPI thing was fixed prior to this. Unfortunately this did absolutely nothing . Still getting the error with Verbatim MCC 004 coded 16X printable DVD+R. Now I did try some sony MIJ 8X +R's (non-printable) and they scanned great 99% with a max pif of 3 and 151 total. Plus I didn't get the error. Guess it might be something to do with these dvd's since I noticed someone on another thread mentioned the same thing about the same media. They play fine and give okay scans, so I guess I won't worry about it. I am going to purchase some TY DVD+R printables and see if they scan great also. Actually I got some other printable +R's laying around. I'll run a test on them and see if they work.
FYI: I think I figured the error message out. I've always ran the CD/DVD scan immediately after burning. Never been a problem with DVD-R's. It seems that when I booktype DVD+R's I have to eject the disc than close it after burning. If I don't and just go straight to scanning with Nero, it defaults to 4482 for the end position. If I eject than close the drive than Nero scan recognizes the correct size that was written versus defaulting to 4482.
hi guys i bought 100 MCC004's last week to try (cause they were as cheap as my R03's). i use a liteon 1693s all burns where at 8x so thought would check after reading this thread, every one (25) has an initial spike of between 12-22 on the PIE then flat as a pancake all the way through to give a fairly low average, and a quality score between 93-95. so perhaps it is the disc's, i don't get this spike with any of the other media i'm useing
I'm starting to wonder the same thing. I got much better scores with the 8X Verb's. My TY scans are easily the best I've gotten.
