The problem I'm experiencing is that I don't know how to make the audio play in the timeline when I press spacebar......the timeline will start and play, but audio that I add won't play.

Have you gone into your Windows Playback settings and enabled the "Wave" output and have the Volume turned up Loud enough??

the volume is turned up all the way. And by windows playback settings, do you mean Window>Audio? I do have that open and the audio button is on. Also, in the timeline the audio button is displayed as well.

I"m Talking about your Windows Audio settings not the settings in after effects....

In your windows audio settings you have to have the "Wave" audio controll enabled and have the Volume on the Wave audio Controll up high enough to hear it....

I went into my control panel to open up the audio window, but I don't know if that's where I change to 'wave' or not, and I'm not finding it...

Actually I did just find the controls for the volume, including 'wave' and it is turned up and on.
