Hi all, With all the valuable help i've got over the past while, i thought i'd give somethin back & you can tell me if its ok! A couple of days ago i helped someone (with my limited exp.) with their Hotmail log-in difficulties. They were usin the desktop GUI to log-in, but couldnt. Checked their internet conn. OK. Tried to log in usin IE (default browser)didnt realise at time, but that was their first problem. Couldnt log-in. Done a search on Google to find out by inputting the words CANT LOG INTO MSN HOTMAIL. Came up with various searches,one in which i read that MSN had been hit with a virus & were prone to hackers, & other one-'askleo' but after tryin out everythin & restartin pc a few times! I decided enough was enough! i told them they really should change their browser & told them about FF2 was just a week old & is all about security & privacy especially since they've got young kids. So with that installed & went about loggin to MSN (fingers crossed-but not at same time-heh!) Got logged in no problem, Dunno why? but they were mighty pleased when i got in, as i went to check their AV (Norton) durin the process-but it was updatin itself at same time so i thought to leave it alone. They had told me they saved a lot of money by not takin it to a pc shop? But was happy to help & it was exp. for me. & have had no complaints yet-touch wood! So there's my 2cents worth. if anyone has done the same thing you can let me know Thanks Norm9
lol just spreading your good news? lol ie is one of the buggiest programs ever. So Stay away from it.
Hi emachine, Hopefully any news is good news, as the people i helped had no idea about pc's & very little bout the internet. I had somethin similar happen to me bout 2yr ago somethin was hijackin my page with IE, the first thing i done when i got DSL/BROADBAND in i got FF installed & have not looked back except for the time when i lost the bookmarks-2weeks in!! but thankfully nothin since then! I have only limited exp. with pc's but everyday you learn somethin new ! PS. did i forget to mention that they own a pub! there's a method to my madness LOL Regards Norm9
