Hey, I tried searching for these, but i couldnt find anything, so sorry in advance if im asking the same question.
i just bought the counterstrike anthology and i everytime i go to connect to a server it always says things like "downloading resources" such as map, sounds, etc. ....whenever it says that, are those things download to my hard drive, or just downloading from the server so i can display the game, like a webpage would.
also i had some cheats off the internet for the game, just to like spawn some weapons and stuff, but they never seem to work.
what am i doing wrong there? isnt it something like "sv_cheats 1" hit enter and then "weapon_mp5navy" ? it just keep saying "unknown command"

I play Counter-Strike and I know what you're talking about.

First off, the downloading when you connect to a server (sometimes it'll take a while). It is usually that the server is using something that your computer doesn't have. Such as a map, certain models, mods, or other custom modifications to the game.

Usually these are maps that you don't have, or security admin plugins. (they let the server admins control the game and keep it safe and under control)They'll only download the first time they're needed, and will be loaded automatically whenever you need them again.

As for the cheats, they won't work on any Steam Bans server. These servers say VAC Secured, and it prevents any hacks, cheats, or your own mods.

The only real way to use these cheats would most likely be if the server allowed it, or if you created your own server with bots or something. I'm not entirely sure, since I have never used or seen those types of cheats.

Perhaps look up a tutorial on how to use them from the site that you downloaded them from.

    Good luck.
