    Hey guys, 1st post here. Anyway, I had a few questions before I start flashing my 360, using the guide of xbox-scene.com (http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/tutorial/HitachiSamsungTutorialV37Merged.pdf). First and foremost, can people be banned from Xbox Live for using a drive with flashed firmware, or playing a backed-up game on Live? Is there any way for MS to tell that you're using a flashed drive or burned game? Second, can you play over a LAN with a backed up game? Finally, are there any other firmwares other than the xtreme one? Just curious. Other than that, I think I'm ready to go, that guide explains it all pretty well. Any other general advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

    I'm pretty sure as of now MS can't tell that you are using a flashed drive or a backed up game. They could come out with an update to change this though.

    Nope, that's the only one so far.

    As for the question about playing over LAN with a flashed Xbox360, I'm not really sure.

    I remember when that 1st firmware hack video was shown back in March someone said there's no way for MS to tell they hacked the firmware. No one disputed that then. It looks like it's still true, because they are quick to ban you if they know you did any kind of modding. My advice is set aside a whole day for you do it and make sure you ask questions online any time you get stuck to avoid brickage.

    Yes, you can play them on XBoxLive games and you can play them over a LAN, i do, no problems, but like everyone says, maybe someday M$ will figure it out.

    By the way, I know this is more than likely a "Easy" question but what is a LAN?

    LAN = Local Access Network

    Tho, when he refers to "LAN" he means connecting 2 or more xboxes together to play in a LAN.

    I wanna flash my drive but, first off I have no idea how and second, in order to backup my games I will have to have a DVD Burner and buy DVD DL disc right? So I gotta feeling it will cost me more money then I originally thought

    The guide I linked to above is very informative as to how to go about flashing your drive and making backups. As for actaully making the backups, you will need a DVD+R DL drive (less than $100) and DVD DL media (less than $3/disk).

    pioneer 111d burner from newegg.com= $38
    verb dvd+r dl's= ~$2 on sale
    you may have to buy a sata pci card= $10.99 from newegg.com

    That's all you'd need to invest in. The only thing left would be to read, read, read.

    Actually when it came down to it, flashing the drive (copying the original firmware, editing the xtreme firmware, and reflashing the drive) took me 9 minutes. Although it seems quite complex, it's really not and is by far alot easier (and cheaper) than installing a mod chip in a ps2 or xbox 1.

    Im might have gave it a try but I have been having problems with my 360 and had to send it to MS for repairs. I don't think it would be too smart to void my warranty right about now just in case I have any more problems.

    You need Adobe Acrobat Reader. It's free from adobe.com.
