Hello, Bin googling for a while, No answer.

    I have an

    AMD x2 6000+
    4GB Ram (2x2GB)
    Asus M2n-VM HDMI Mobo
    7900GS 256MB 256BIT X-Vision Nvidia GPU
    Windows XP SP3
    AVG8 and Spybot S&D Running

Idle My cpu usage is 0-1%, Memory usage around 10-15%
    All applications run fine.
When i play any games, Sims2 Devil May Cry 4, F.E.A.R, They will all play smooth for 5 seconds then frame rate will drop to less than 1fps for 5-10 seconds and keeps repeating. I have ran Task Manager in the background to see whats going on. Cpu usage will run at 100% for a few seconds then around 30% then 100% and so on. Any ideas??

    Ta Craig

Get rid of AVG8 and get a free trial of ESET. If it doesn't solve the problem you can always put AVG back. The latest AVG lags all sorts of programs on my PC.
Try the same with Spybot S&D and Lavasoft Ad-Aware too, just in case that's an issue.

But before that, you should watch the task manager to see what actually causes the spike.

Fair enough, I'm doubtful that would cause the problem, but if you're changing boards make sure they use the same chipset type (nvidia) as your M2N, else you may not be able to boot without a repair install of windows. Also don't forget to install the appropriate chipset driver.
