My cpu constantly hits 100%. For example, when I move my mouse over the page I see it jump to around 50%. When I scroll the page up and down it hits 100%. I have plenty of avalible ram. Have down a virus scan, and checked for spyware. Win98se P3 667mhz. 128ram. I also found that some video files stutter when I play them because the cpu is at 100%. When I ran Spybot, the cpu was at 100%. This doesn't seem to be specific to any one program. Any solutions or general advice on cpu performance would be welcome. thank you. Am using a utility called Process Explorer to monitor cpu.
System resouses are 54% free. Does extra ram improve cpu performance? I currently have 15mb ram avalible but still seeing cpu hiting 100%.
hey ddp can you help me out without buying stuff...Ok my comuter is p2 30gig hdd, like you win98se and 128 mb or ram....the broble is i cant open 3 internet explores without the cpu lagging, i dont know why but b4 it used to work good
what type of internet connection are you on?? try opening 1 internet explorer page at a time & see what the resources level is at til get 3 pages up.
what is your cpu speed? what other programs are you running in the background like firewall, anti-virus & whatever??
if your computer is a clone not name brand like dell, ibm or hp/compaq, you have a post screen that shows your cpu speed, floppy, hd & rom drives, ram, serial & parallel ports plus other things. this screen shows up before windows even starts loading.
if just 3 windows for internet explorer opened with nothing else in the background like anti-virus or firewall for 52% which i have both going plus 3 pages at 50%. check your msconfig/startup to see what you have running that shouldn't be.
