I need some advise. I want to build an entry level workstation to do primarily non-linear video editing, but still want it to have the ability to fulfill my other computer needs, ie: internet, gaming [not a great deal] downloading audio, video, etc... Now, I've decided to go with the Asus p4p800se AGP MoBo and a PNY quadro fx700 /128mb DDR / AGP because of their rock solid stability. The problem I'm having is deciding which cpu to go with. I've read so much information about pentium vs amd, hot running cpu's vs cooler running cpu's, dual core, hyper threading, clock speed, yadda yadda yadda.... I'm really confused on this issue and in the need for some help from those in the know, keeping in mind that the principle idea is a workstation. Thanks for any advise you can provide OOOOP's. Forgot to mention that the Asus p4p8oose MoBo is a socket 775 with an Intel 865pe Northbridge and a 1CH5 Southbridge edited by ddp joe

I run a p4 3.0 gig with ht technology and a 2 mb cache and I use mine for more then what you need and it performs great. It also comes with a good price tag at only 189.99. Hope this helps
I think I have the same cpu as tommyl its a P4 3.0E w/HT and I have the P4P800SE mobo I am able to overclock the cpu to 3.8 with regular cooling and i have never had any problems with the cpu or mobo
are u sure that ur mobo is 775 the only P4P800 SE is a 478 mate and that supports + -Socket 478 for Intel Pentium 4/Celeron up to 3.2GHz+ -Intel Hyper-Threading Technology ready -Supports Intel Prescott CPU Heres the link http://uk.asus.com/products4.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=179&l1=3&l2=12&l3=31
