Hello, I just bought a new system and i have a cpu overheating problem MBoard: Gigabyte GA-K8U uli M1689 chipset CPU : AMD 64 3700 Clawhammer Socket 754 CPU Fan: Fanner Tech AMD K8 Cooler Fan My CPU jump from 45C Idle to 65C instantly when it load The Heatsink does'nt fell hot at all The rest of the sensor are Ok around 29 Celcius What should i buy then to cool it? Thank you!
Also i have to mention, my motherboard seem a little bit tricky... the mounting around my cpu is made of plastic and does'nt seem to be removable... ? Gigabyte GA-k8U ULI m1689 Chipset
if your heatsink isnt heating up you dont need to buy anything you need to install it properly. take it off, clean away any thermal paste from the base of the heatsink and the top of the processor, put a fresh thin layer of paste on and correctly install the heatsink and you shouldnt have any more problems. provided that you bought the correct fan in the first lace that is
I bought a zalman 9500 and i fixed it with arctic 5 paste... Now i still got problem 43 C idle 59 C loading How much paste is it needed on the Cpu ? Is it normal that my cpu jump instantly from 43 to 59? Is that Temperature acceptable for an amd 64 3700 ?
you should only use a drop of paste to much will result in the same result as two little, amd processors should not be that hot as will shorten there life span, so u fixed a new fan and still the same problem, is it just one programme reporting or have u tried various cuz sometimes so report a load of bs try this its free and good www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html
I tried speedfan and Everest Home edition They tells me the same thing or pretty close at first i installed it with a Fanner Tech Amd k8 Cooler with the paste that came with it this is a regular aluminum heatsink with fan. My temps reading were 45C idle 67C loading Then i bought a Zalman 9500 and i fixed it with Arctic 5 thermal paste. Temps reading now 45C idle 59C loading We can see that it is much better with zalman and arctic 5 but it is still close to critical temperature (70C) All my others reading are below 30C
Yes pretty sure it is well installed The Fan even stay stuck on it so i think there is a good contact between thems.
i tried to re-install the fan on my cpu, wipe out the thermal paste and do it again. I get the same results... I am sure that the fan is properly installed. Ill give you my specs here: AMD 3700 clawhammer socket 754 GA-K8U ULI M1689 CHipset motherboard version 1.1 Ultra 1024 MB PC3200 DDR 400 Mhz Maxtor 80 GB EIDE 12 mm fan on the back 1 small on the side 1 small on the front Zalman 9500 CPU Fan with Artic 5 paste EVEREST HOME EDITION READINGS Sensor Properties Sensor Type SMSC LPC47M192/997 (SMBus 2Dh) Temperatures Motherboard 29 °C (84 °F) CPU 44 °C (111 °F) Aux 28 °C (82 °F) Maxtor 6L080P0 28 °C (82 °F) Cooling Fans CPU 2508 RPM Voltage Values CPU Core 1.54 V +1.5 V 1.67 V +2.5 V 2.58 V +3.3 V 3.32 V +5 V 5.10 V +12 V 12.19 V Debug Info F FF FF FF FF 00 FF 00 FF Debug Info T CA 2D 1D 1C Debug Info V C6 83 C1 C4 C3 If Anywone can help feel free it would be greatly appreciated! Something weird with my idle temps, it is the same reading even if i changed the fan. 45C 45C ??? but on load i dropped 8 Celcius...
now that is stange?????, i have fund this review of the fan which saws it should be fine, http://www.pcpro.co.uk/custompc/reviews/81787/zalman-cnps9500led.html i take it u have secured the fan in place with the 2 screws?
Yes i had to remove the pushpins and insert what they call 2 nipples then you fix the fan to the support with 2 screw that goes in the nipples holes. It was quite laborious but it is well explain and the quality of the components is great.
so theres a clean seal between the cpu and the heat sink, you followed the instructions to install it to the very end, ui applied thermal past correctly and its still showing as Hot. Im clean out of surgestions. What does bios ay when it has temp? try leaving it for a few mins in bios mode with the temp on and see if it goes up at all.
In BIOS mode it does'nt go more than 33 Celcius The system temp indicate 28 Celcius With theses reading i would'nt mind but, when it comes to load something why it jump isntantly up to 60 Celcius?
its a mysterie to me, but u could try to get an even balence of airflow, so moving a fan around, and c it that makes any difference. But apart from then i would be pissed at spending all the money and nothing happening.
On Gigabyte my CPU is not listed in the CPU support list This is not a good think... http://tw.giga-byte.com/Support/motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=1876 i got a AMD 64 Clawhammer core socket 754
