Hope someone can provide some insights

I recently burnt my photos on DVD as backups. The burning process went without any problems. The file verification was also without problems.

Days later, I decided to backup the backup. During the reading of the DVD, there were CRC errors.

    My setup
DVD reader : Pioneer DV06 (SCSI version)
DVD writer : TDK 440n (IDE version connected externally on Firewire)
    Software : Roxio
OS : Windows XP (with SP2)
    DVD media : TDK RW+R

TDK isnt real good media try better media Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and burn at a slower speed 4X is what most of us burn at.

you may be able to run the TDK though dvd decrypter (rerip) the dvd to better media and save it

Just curious how you came to that conclusion?

The folks at Digital FAQ seem to disagree..... look in the first class media section here:
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

There is one questionable manufacturer in the +R section of TDK according to the list, but that manufacturer's +R discs have moved up the quality ladder a bit.

make sure the disc is clean, free of fingerprints(the tiniest smudge can make all the difference)and make sure the drive is clean.

as aabbccdd said, burning no faster than 4x is a good rule of thumb.
