My Creative Jukebox is not recognized by its software on my computer (Nomad Explorer). It is recognized by Windows. Does anyone have any ideas why this might be and If there is anything that I can do about it?
Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions.

Had an old NJZX 60gb that I gave to my girlfriend a while back that she just lent to me to use while at work. I had no Creative programs on my computer, so I installed and tried the Nomad Explorer and would not find the player, but WindowsXP did. Regardless, no matter what I did, I could not perform any type of "sync" to it.

Went back to creative.com under support downloads (where I downloaded the NE). Entered info for unit and found that this is now considered non servicable, but could still retrieve the last updates from archive.

Did so and updated Creative MediaSource and appropriate drivers. Based on what I have seen in various posts- DO NOT UPGRADE FIRMWARE FOR PLAYFORSURE DEVICES unless you want to use your unit for a paperweight!!! **sirens and red lights**.

Back to the upgrades- first and foremost- get rid of Nomad Explorer. Uninstall it completely, as I have found that it conflicts with the newer programs that you need to install. Then install the drivers for MediaSource 5 (it is handy that they give you the upgrade dates, so use the most recent). Once the drivers are installed, then install MedaSource 5 application with your NJZX connected to your computer. MS5 will not install unless you have a Creative device connected. Once MS5 installs, check for upgrades and it will prompt you to install other upgrades (cd burn and 2 others if I remember correctly). When done, you can access the NJXZ from either WMP11 or MS5, but MS5 works better for file transfers.

I did not think of this, but try uninstalling Nomad Explorer and see if you can get it to work through WMP11. If not- go through the steps I laid out above. Hope it works out for you!
