Yes, you can use the "NON-Freeware" version of "VSO DivXToDVD" to add subtitles to your DVD but not the Freeware version.....

Generally Subtitles are added in the Authoring Stage of DVD Creation so you can also add subtitles useing a Good DVD authoring Program Like "MediaChance DVDLab Pro" but you have to encode your Source File to a DVD Compliant mpeg-2 file First.....

    Cheers

Otherwise, you can encode permanently the subtitle with the video, if you don't want to purchase a new application.
Just open the file with VirtualDub. Load the Subtitler filter and load the subtitle (converted in SubStation Alpha (SSA) form).
After that, start the frameserver (File___Start Frameserver___ save as movie.vdr).
After that, load that movie.vdr file instead of movie.avi.
Ah, I'm supposing the AVI is already in standard form. Otherwise, you'dd better adding the 'resize' filter BEFORE the subsiler filter, so the 'resize' arrives before the subtitle.

Ah, to create the SSA file from a SRT file you can use SRTtoSSA converter. Just take care use a font and a distance from the bottom border depending on the screen you see. Choose color = white.
You can check what it appears in VirtualDub, by scrolling the bottom track button (the lest screen is the input one. The right one is what you create with VirtualDub).
