I even took out the battery and put it back in again but still no luck and the same thing happend. PLEASE HELP ME I DON'T WANNA LOSE 4 GB WORTH OF SONGS + I DONT HAVE THEM BACKED UP ANYWHERE.

Hmmm.. simmilar thing happened to my player today. It does start up in Recovery Mode, but even if I reboot it from there (this usually does the trick) it freezes on the startup. When I connect it to my PC in Recovery Mode, it is detected as an empty harddisk of 0 kb...

If you find the solution, please do post it here!

Pfff... finally! Upgrading the firmware worked! Check http://us.creative.com/support/downloads/ for the latest firmware, download it to your PC, run it and pray!

After my PC recognised the player, I was able to use it as an external harddrive, so I knew communication between my PC and the player was ok.
Before that I didn´t dare to replace the firmware.

Still no reaction from Customer Support... I think this is going to be my last Creative device....

It doesn´t freeze anymore! It starts up normal and works well again.
I formatted it first, so I don´t know if your files will still be on after reloading the firmware.

I would make a backup if I were you...

    Good luck!

finally, i´ve got mail from custommer support. Their solution: reload the firmware and then run cleanup.
