    Hi,
I recently purchased the Creative Soundblaster Audigy SE. I installed the drivers that came with the CD. After installing, i was unable to play the sound. Then i looked around and with the help of Add Hardware in control panel, windows installed some IDT audio codec . Now the sound plays just fine. I just wanted to ask that is my PC even using the sound card that i brought or is it using the default windows onboard card. Because i dont feel any difference in the sound. And worst of all things, i can't use the creative's EAX control panel for setting ( that came with the sound card). ALl i can access is the stupid IDT audio control panel...PLease could you tell me what is this IDT thing. and if my pc is using this soundblaster card and how do i access the creative's EAX control panel?
And ya after uninstalling the IDT my sound doesnot play..it means it is mandatory codec..???
    please help me people...
    thank you

You need to go to control panel and select the Audigy SE as your default device for sound playback -- to simplify things you should also disable your onboard audio in the BIOS.
