    Hello

Computers are funny things and need cross cables for command identification. If you DIRECTLY conect two computers with RJ45, parrell or serial cables it has to be crossed. the same is true for directly connecting a scanner, printer to your computer. If you are using a switch or router, the to get high speed long distance communication, twisted non crossed cable are needed. If you are connecting two computers or devices to computer use small less than ten foot cables. The longer the cross cable the slower the transfer. If greater then ten feet use a hub for RJ45 or a switch for DB25 (parellel cable), the file transfer will be noticebly faster. So it comes down to comunication and speed.
