Hi, and thanks in advance for your help. My roommate just upgraded his PC to windows 7 and now has a display issue. Just before the boot makes it to the login screen the display goes away and doesn't come back. The weird thing about this is that his system works just fine on my LCD or in safe mode with his CRT. I tried my system on a different CRT today and it worked just fine. So far we've tried updating his video card drivers, installing new monitor drivers, and re-installing 7 a couple of times. Any ideas? Thanks
Most likely the screen resolution is set to one that the monitor can't handle. In safe mode the display is set to 640 x 480 x16 colors that most anything can handle. I would suggest hooking it up to another computer and downgrading the resolution to the lowest that the video card can do. If the CRT can't display at that resolution, then it's some kind of compatibility issue with the video card and THAT particular CRT. If it works at the lowest resolution, then you can start cranking it up to see what the highest compatible resolution is between the video card and that CRT.
